About me
I never thought I was artistic.
My background is in event management. Processes, logistics, optimisation. For my 42nd birthday, friends gave me a cryptic gift: a tiny hand-sculpted vase reading “You can do it better.” A few weeks later a pottery course voucher for The Ceramic Garden was delivered.
I was hooked from the first session.
A year and a half later, Nika Kurent Ceramics logo was designed and I sold at my first market.
In some Slavic folk legends, the land was formed from clay. A duck is said to have gathered it from the depths of the ocean, bringing earth into being. These myths describe the world as a turning wheel, cyclical rather than fixed, repeating with subtle variations each year. It is not a predetermined path, but a structured rhythm within which individual impact can unfold.
At its core, pottery is the making of vessels. Clay holds both structure and variation. No two handmade pieces are identical; each is shaped by touch, pressure, repetition, time and heat. Just as the Slavic wheel of time provides a framework for change, the pottery wheel offers structure, and within it the ceramicist creates variation.

I explore clay through touch — through texture, slip decoration, embossing and mark-making. Surface is not an afterthought but part of the process; I work with pattern, pressure and repetition to create pieces that invite handling.
Elements of Slavic tradition find their way into the work, sometimes through motif or pattern, sometimes more quietly through concept. I create functional ware, art objects, and adaptable branded pieces, each shaped by hand and guided by material.
